Overview & Mission
The Department and Institute of Physiology at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) is dedicated to advancing physiological medicine and the life sciences. As a core discipline of basic medical sciences, physiology serves as the essential foundation for understanding human health, disease mechanisms, and medical innovation.
We integrate medical knowledge with comprehensive training at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. Our faculty’s expertise spans critical fields, including metabolism, neuroscience, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, and electrophysiology.
Academic Excellence & Research
We integrate medical knowledge with comprehensive training at the Master’s and Doctoral levels. Our faculty’s expertise spans a wide range of critical fields, including metabolism, neuroscience, cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, and electrophysiology.
Beyond traditional classroom learning, we are deeply engaged in both basic and applied physiological research. Our students and faculty actively participate in international physiology competitions and global academic activities, fostering a vibrant environment for scientific discovery.
Historical Legacy
The DThe Department of Physiology has been an integral part of the university since its founding as the National Yang-Ming Medical College in 1975. The Institute was formally organized to offer graduate training for the Master’s degree in 1985 and the Ph.D. degree in 1991.
Leadership & Excellence: Our institute has been led by distinguished scholars who have shaped the landscape of physiological research in Taiwan. Founding Chairman: Professor S. T. Chiang (1975–1981) Current Director: Professor H. C. Lin (2026.2–Present)
